Awesome Bookmarks: A Convenient Floating Bookmarks Bar for Chrome
Awesome Bookmarks is a free Chrome extension developed by Maurice Lam. It provides users with a floating bookmarks bar that allows for quick and easy searching through bookmarks. The bar is only visible when needed, taking up no space on the screen. To activate the bar, simply press the star icon.
One of the standout features of Awesome Bookmarks is its comprehensive search functionality. Users can type directly on the bar to search through their bookmarks. This includes not only bookmarks on the bar itself but also other bookmarks saved in Chrome. It's like having QuickSilver or Launchy for your bookmarks!
Navigating through bookmarks is a breeze with Awesome Bookmarks. Pressing enter will take you to the first bookmark, and arrow keys can be used to navigate if you prefer keyboard shortcuts. Additionally, pressing alt-enter will open the selected bookmark in a new tab.
For added convenience, users can also install the no.tify extension, which works as a companion to Awesome Bookmarks. This extension provides notifications for unread emails, unread blog posts/RSS feeds, and changes on favorite sites.
Please note that if you decide to uninstall Awesome Bookmarks, there is a button in the options page that allows you to revert all your bookmarks' names to their original ones, removing any notification numbers. It is recommended to do this before uninstalling to avoid the need for manual renaming.
